In her first season as a Company Member, Gretchen received early training at the Cary Conservatory Ballet. She was the recipient of a scholarship to the University of Arizona and graduated with a B.F.A. in Dance. Gretchen has toured professionally throughout China with the Art.if.Act Dance Project, performed at the Joyce Theater in New York City, and performed with LEVELdance under the direction of Eddy Ocampo.

Gretchen began her dance education in her hometown of Cary, North Carolina at the Cary Ballet Conservatory. Gretchen continued her dance training after she received a scholarship to the University Of Arizona School Of Dance and recently graduated with a B.F.A. in Dance. While at U of A, she had to opportunity to work with artists such as Ann Reinking, Gary Chryst, Walter Kennedy, and Miki Orihara. Gretchen has toured professionally throughout China with the Art.if.Act Dance Project, performed Doug Neilsen’s reconstruction of Charles Weidmean’s On My Mother’s Side at the Joyce Theater in New York City, and performed with LEVELdance, co-directed by Eddy Ocampo, at Chicago’s Athaneaum Theater. She has also taught alongside artists such as Jimmy Locust and Miguel Perez at the JazzFest summer intensive in Cary, NC. Gretchen was an apprentice for one year and now has joined River North Dance Chicago as a full Company Member.  Gretchen says that after watching, learning and performing as an apprentice, she could not be more grateful to become a part of the River North family.
