Street Beat: Dance Through the Decades is River North’s highly kid-acclaimed Family Show that teaches students about the historical and social conditions of the 20th century and how the cultural underpinnings influenced dance. Each decade, from the Roaring 20s to the Hip-Hop 90s, is introduced with a narrative that comments on major events, historical figured, popular music and fashion.

Appropriate for grade school, high school and family audiences, and can be performed in a single class period. A comprehensive study guide is included and is available for three grade levels: K-4; 5-8 and 9-12. This guide includes suggested activities, a glossary of terminology, games and a bibliography of reference materials.
